In the heart of Kraków lies a place that over the years has witnessed the lives and work of the city’s artists.

Imagine a place where history meets modernity. Here, at the intersection of Wenecja and Garncarska streets, stands a beautifully restored townhouse, refined down to the smallest detail. A place where the past and art blend harmoniously with contemporary, discreet luxury. This is Wenecja 1.

The townhouse was designed in 1911 by Kazimierz Hroboni at the request of Piotr Stachiewicz, a renowned painter and creator of prints and posters. The result was an elegant, four-storey building in perimeter development, formerly known as the “Pod Lwem” and also as “Pod św. Markiem”. Its façade overlooks today’s General Zygmunt Zieliński Square. It was here, in light-filled interiors, that not only Piotr Stachiewicz worked, but also other distinguished artists such as Antoni Procajłowicz and Władysław Żeleński — composer, educator, conductor, and director of the Kraków Music Society Conservatory. After World War II, the talented painter and sculptor Jan Świerczyński also worked here, leaving his artistic mark in an attic studio.
